the 2-month check-up and the dreaded round of shots

i finally had my 2 month checkup at 11 and a half weeks. i know, they dont match. that's how pretty booked my pedia is.

we were seen by dr. womack once again on wednesday. and everyone who saw us at the clinic were all surprised at how much i've grown. yeah, i am a chunky one. with an official weight and height (measured that day) of 11 lbs 10 oz and 22 and 3/4 inches, i was placed at the 50th percentile for both (which used to be 25th and 10th, respectively, from my 2-week chkup). mind you, they are charts for big american babies so i really am getting at par with them blue-eyed lil ones. well, my head is still on the lower percentile but it still increased in size. hey, ambabies really have bigger heads.

from dr. womack's usual routine, everything was a-ok. she even complimented me on my growth development going on at a higher slope, and my good neck support. she encouraged me to love tummy time more. she said i can rollover pretty soon if i will just be religious with tummy time. oh well, i will try, i said TRY, to not cry during that time. and as usual she loves my killer dimple and she made me smile a lot that day to see that.

the smile faded away though when this mean lady nurse took me and had me take this liguid yucky medicine orally (and who said they taste sweet and good?!). i gagged most of them out! that's actually the first time that i took something that is not milk, and not coming from my mom or a nippled bottle. yakers! i took a little bit though and she said that it's ok as long as i took some.

then the most dreaded part came... the vaccinations! there were 3 shots to be done, and seeing how long the needles were, dad looked away and stepped back. "di ko kayang tingnan... nakakaawa ang anak ko e", he said. and i thought that would be coming out of mom's mouth. she watched bravely though and the nurse did a good job in administering all 3 shots really quick! i cried loud and hard, but as soon as dad carried me, i stopped at an instant. then i was a happy baby once more.

here's a video of how i was telling dad about how i felt and how mean that lady was!

the whole day i just slept coz i was so exhausted! i didn't catch a fever but i really felt tired. my parents were actually surprised that i didn't mind being in my carseat. yup, no tears. i just slept.

when i woke up, we were at sears. apparently, they want my picture taken for my passport application. at sears studio, i didn't mind being photographed. and because of that, they scheduled our christmas family portrait session on the 22nd. mom's all excited, looking at the infant's formal dresses at sears so that i will look really lovely on our session. they were eyeing this one particular christmas dress but nothing in-stock fits me. so they ended up buying 2 casual ones instead (50% off, that's why). mom said that they'll just look at other stores for cute formal dresses. yeah, this is why mom is grateful for having a daughter! haha.

alrighty, signing off til my next update!

i am two months old!

i am joel and i am two months old today. we celebrated this day with pizza, pasta and a dairy queen blizzard cake. like last month, i still wasn't able to blow my own candles. mom did a good job for me.

at two months...

i am already 11.4 lbs and 22.5 inches long. but these aren't official measurements. i'll have that during my 2-month check up on the 12th. and gawd, i am dreading that other round of vaccines that day.

i am enjoying playing with my tongue, dripping laway everywhere, licking my mom and dad's shirts, and thumb hand-sucking.

i speak more baby language now, with a lot of facial expressions. yeah, including eyebrow raising. i really converse. i say ahh, oeh, akkk, ehh and a-khoo or a-ghoo a lot. i make lots of other sounds and sometimes shrieks out of glee.

i am awake for longer periods now. i just love this period coz it means eating time or playtime! wee!

i like to reach for my toys but for some reason, i can't grab them on my own yet even if i stretch and stretch and flail my limbs making me squirm like kiti-kiti. mom thinks that i am right-handed since i move this arm more often.

i giggle and smile a lot, much more than last month. reasons for this are on my post below.

i am very much responsive now and love interacting with and looking at my parents' faces

i have better neck support, but mom and dad still make sure that they handle my head very carefully. during tummy times i can swing my head from side to side, but not backwards yet

i am hilda no more! nah, just kidding. i still have my moments. however, if you measure the length of time that im crying, you'd say that it's gradually going down day by day. i even very seldom cry during bath and wash times now, even during dress up. plus, the cues of my cries are getting known now. just don't mess with me when i'm sleepy, tired or hungry. but i have an on-off switch anyway, making me smile and giggle at an instant. yeah, i do know how to forgive and forget, that fast. but like other 2 month olds, i still get into an hour of crying bouts and no amount of singing nor dancing would make me stop. i will eventually stop and sleep anyway.

i still hate my carseat. but at least i can last sitting there for about 20mins now without crying (longer if i am in deep sleep),as long as the car's moving and if i'm still interested with my car toys. and again, don't put me there when i'm hungry or sleepy. at least we can travel more comfortably now. but sometimes we still stop when i'm having my sumpong or worse, mom just carries me all the way home (we only do this at night though. bad eh?)

i am very much observant of the things around me. i love colorful things, different patterns, and moving objects. and coz of this, they can lay me down for a while, say for about 10mins. this can work to my parents' advantagae when i am having some crying spells. at the very least, this gives them some amount of time to take wiwi break, or just a break from carrying a chunky baby all day. this also made diaper changing easier for them.

i have a really good schedule now that mom started working this week. at least im making it easier for dad. he knows when i get hungry and when i nap, so i don't get upset for long.

dad can pacify me now. and it was also a milestone for them that they can lay me down to sleep (at least for 3 days in a row now. i had pillows on my sides so i thought im still sleeping beside them. hmm). imagine how my dad does things with just one hand, like eating, coz he has to carry me on the other. hehee. i think he now knows me better than mom.

here are some pics between september and october and see how i've changed from then til now.

alrighty! until the next!
