here are some more pictures during my 3rd month birthday

today as i turn 3 months, i am already around 12.8 lbs and probably almost 24 inches long. everyone who saw my studio portraits got surprised at how big and chunky i look (and bigger than my age. my cousins said i looked like i was 6months old on those pics). and yes, those are my real huge legs. no legwarmers whatsoever underneath. and no, you won't see my neck on those (even my parents don't see my neck often unless they force me to).

I have changed to size 2 diapers since my legs are already complaining with size 1. my huge thighs are getting squished with it. i also am not wearing a lot of my smaller clothes anymore and mom kept a bag full of them for my future siblings or for new babies on the block. and some of them i have not even worn or were just worn once. now, i am wearing some 6-9month-sized clothes too (some brands are really smaller compared to others).

As for the major milestones, here's what we got from baby center's milestone chart for a 3 month-old baby:

Mastered Skills (most kids can do):

Recognizes your face and scent -- CHECK! Seeing my dad and mom really sends smiles and giggles my way! And i definitely know them and can pick them from amongst the crowd

Holds head steady -- CHECK! I definitely do. And I've been doing this since I am 2-months old. Like what I've said before, my pedia thinks that I have much much better head control than other babies my age. And she noticed that when i was about 3weeks of age.

• Visually tracks moving objects -- CHECK! .. specially the colorful ones. My parents actually noticed that I've been doing this since I am around 2-months old. I definitely watch where my mom or dad goes when they leave me at my my playpen for a few minutes (yep, can't last for a long time there. I wanna be cuddled and carried all the time, haha. fine, call me a demanding baby!).

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do):

• Squeals, gurgles, coos -- CHECK! well i am one talkative baby! I have videos of joel daldal here.

• Blows bubbles --CHECK! i just looove doing this and playing with my laway. If it weren't for the bib that mom puts on me lately even if i am not eating, i will be one really wet baby!

• Recognizes your voice -- CHECK! My parents' voice, specially when they talk and sing to me, is but wonderful melody to my ears.

• Does mini-pushup -- CHECK! Have you seen my videos here?! What other proof do you need?! Thanks to tummy time, i learned to do this. Yeah right?! *rolls eyes*

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do):

Rolls over, from tummy to back -- CHECK! And i wasn't even 3 months when i started doing this. Again, thanks to tummy time? Am i hearing myself here?!

• Turns toward loud sounds -- CHECK! Whenever my mom will bring me in front of our keyboard and hit some notes, i really look towards where the sound is coming from. Dad is tricking me though with that tickle-me-cookie monster inside the box,coz i couldn't see who's laughing and i just keep on looking.

• Can bring hands together, bats at toys -- CHECK! and CHECK! Here's another proof that i can bring my hands together. I really can't get enough of my hands. They're sooo num-yummy! Mmm, mmm good! And i don't just bat on my toys or anything, i try to grab them! My parents do a good job in helping me develop that grabbing skills. They make it look easy, heh!

Well, these are all i can find from babycenter in terms of milestones. Alrighty then! Signing off til my next update!

tummy time!

i hate tummy time! but my pedia recommends that i do that at least a couple of times a day for about two minutes each. she said that it would strengthen my neck muscles and would make me learn how to rollover quickly. so mom and dad had been religiously getting me into tummy time each day.

when i am at tummy time, i don't have a choice but to tilt my head backward. my parents saw how i was improving on that area. from having my face flat down, i can now fully hold my head up high. dad started noticing this last thursday. and then on friday night, while they were encouraging me, i was so pissed that i unintentionally rolled over to my back. all i heard were shrieks of happiness and a lot of 'good jobs' from mom and dad. they are just so proud that i can do this at less than 3 months old. then they noted the date, november 21, my first time to rollover. too bad they didn't catch it on cam. and everytime i do it, they either don't have the cam with them or i just wouldn't want to do it again. mom won't stop til she captures it anyway, i'm sure! ;)

see how i have transformed from this to this and this.

so there! another major milestone for moi! :)

PS. i can't get enough of my hands! i just loooove sucking them! here's a proof. how about you? how does your hand taste like? :)

the 2-month check-up and the dreaded round of shots

i finally had my 2 month checkup at 11 and a half weeks. i know, they dont match. that's how pretty booked my pedia is.

we were seen by dr. womack once again on wednesday. and everyone who saw us at the clinic were all surprised at how much i've grown. yeah, i am a chunky one. with an official weight and height (measured that day) of 11 lbs 10 oz and 22 and 3/4 inches, i was placed at the 50th percentile for both (which used to be 25th and 10th, respectively, from my 2-week chkup). mind you, they are charts for big american babies so i really am getting at par with them blue-eyed lil ones. well, my head is still on the lower percentile but it still increased in size. hey, ambabies really have bigger heads.

from dr. womack's usual routine, everything was a-ok. she even complimented me on my growth development going on at a higher slope, and my good neck support. she encouraged me to love tummy time more. she said i can rollover pretty soon if i will just be religious with tummy time. oh well, i will try, i said TRY, to not cry during that time. and as usual she loves my killer dimple and she made me smile a lot that day to see that.

the smile faded away though when this mean lady nurse took me and had me take this liguid yucky medicine orally (and who said they taste sweet and good?!). i gagged most of them out! that's actually the first time that i took something that is not milk, and not coming from my mom or a nippled bottle. yakers! i took a little bit though and she said that it's ok as long as i took some.

then the most dreaded part came... the vaccinations! there were 3 shots to be done, and seeing how long the needles were, dad looked away and stepped back. "di ko kayang tingnan... nakakaawa ang anak ko e", he said. and i thought that would be coming out of mom's mouth. she watched bravely though and the nurse did a good job in administering all 3 shots really quick! i cried loud and hard, but as soon as dad carried me, i stopped at an instant. then i was a happy baby once more.

here's a video of how i was telling dad about how i felt and how mean that lady was!

the whole day i just slept coz i was so exhausted! i didn't catch a fever but i really felt tired. my parents were actually surprised that i didn't mind being in my carseat. yup, no tears. i just slept.

when i woke up, we were at sears. apparently, they want my picture taken for my passport application. at sears studio, i didn't mind being photographed. and because of that, they scheduled our christmas family portrait session on the 22nd. mom's all excited, looking at the infant's formal dresses at sears so that i will look really lovely on our session. they were eyeing this one particular christmas dress but nothing in-stock fits me. so they ended up buying 2 casual ones instead (50% off, that's why). mom said that they'll just look at other stores for cute formal dresses. yeah, this is why mom is grateful for having a daughter! haha.

alrighty, signing off til my next update!

sittin' up!

my parents tried to sit me up since my neck support is much much better (the pedia actually told them that @ 3 weeks, i had a really good neck control, so what do you expect now that i am 10 weeks old?).

weehweesittin up at 10weeks

i'm also beginning to have that habit of moving my head forward as if i was going to stand up from my chair. and i've been doing that lately when i'm in my bonding position with dad, or my carseat or when im seated up. when i do this, dad or mom will pull both my arms towards them to help me up, and often i will be stiff from the upper body up to my head and they would laugh. and i actually am not sure what's funny with that. but hey, i am all for making them happy! ;o)

reading time!!!

"reading time na anak!". this was what i would often hear around nighttime when i was still inside mommy. then i would immediately hear some classical music from the background, then my dad's voice, reading a book that they borrowed from the library.

when i arrived, this stopped for a while because first i was a very demanding baby, and 2nd, i didn't appreciate it as much as i did when i was just tumbling and squirming inside mom. they tried the reading sessions earlier on but wouldn't be able to finish the book at one blow coz i had a very very short attention span.

now that my senses are more appreciative, dad started the sessions once more and borrowed more books from the library. reading time for me is not only at bed time. we do it any time of the day, when im more active. i love looking at the colorful pictures and listening to dad's voice.

in the pic below, we're reading something about babies' activities, and i soo can relate! i just love reading time! here's a video showing that.

until the next book dad! can't wait!

my 1st halloween

on my 1st halloween, i didn't go trick-or-treating. aside from the fact that i'm too little to be enjoying the treats, it's also a little bit cold outside. it was my dad's idea to just put lampin over me,and just be casper, the friendly ghost. but since i will also be greeting kids in costumes, mom decided to get me one too. so thursday saw us at toys r us looking for the perfect halloween costume (thanks tita abby for informing mom about the 50% off sale). unfortunately, they ran out of infant's costumes, so they just got me this ensemble:

my 1st halloweenmommy im inisdaddy i don't like this
gigglymy halloween shoes
i still look cute eh?

these are my ates and kuyas wearing costumes too. i just have to have a pic with them.

more halloween pictures here.

that halloween night, when most of the trick-or-treaters were gone, we headed straight to tito william's home to be with my ates and kuyas to celebrate halloween. but it was already my bedtime so after crying for a few minutes, i dozed off on my mom's shoulder, while they feasted on food and chatted the night away.

i can't wait for next halloween! i will be a cute lil catterpillar next year asking each and everyone, "trick or treat?!"
