5 milestones in 3 days!

0 comments
starting from the day before i turned 8 months...

milestone #1: i had my first taste of "sinigang"
my first ever grown-up food! contrary to other babies, i didn't start with lugaw, but with one of the infamous pinoy favorite food of all times, THE "sinigang". the sour soup with slightly mashed rice tasted weirdly at first. but heck, i wouldn't be called trueblooded pinoy if i didn't like it, so i finished the small-for-starters portion that mom gave me and i was raving for more! yummeeeh!

the next two happened during my 8th month birthday...

milestone#2: i can now stand for a really long time while supporting myself
my parents just found out that i can already do this when mom put me by the glass door to look at the garden. while i held on to it, she let go of me just to see if i can stand by myself. and i did! soon, they attached the legs of my musical table and i've been playing with it standing since then.
enjoyin this musical tabletall and proud
milestone #2: standing for a really long time all by myself. another vid here.;

milestone #3: balancing myself while standing unsupported
yep, no support at all. mom just wanted to know if i would be able to stand without support (hey, what's the use of my huge "pata" if they can't support my body well?!). so dad let go of me, and i tried to balance myself! the longest i've gone through without falling was 17 seconds! how's that for a first timer?!

balancingbalance, balance
milestone #3: balancing while standing unsupported

milestone #4: crawling to sitting position.
since i've been rolling over and crawling backwards to get to where i want to go to, i needed to learn how to go from crawling to sitting position for me to be able to maneuver myself. and the day after my 8th month, i discovered that i can do it. and i did it all by myself! wee!

milestone #5: coming down from the bed.
when mom got home that same day, dad surprised her by telling her that they need not teach me how to come down from the bed anymore. so in panic, my mom asked why and what happened. dad recounted it to her. normally when i'm sleeping and left alone, i would make sounds or call someone or cry when i wake up. when i'm not crying, they usually wait for a few secs before they come up, coz often, i'd go back to sleep. that wasn't the case yesterday. to my dad's surprise, i was already standing, down by the bed side, and holding onto it for support. i even laughed with delight when i saw dad. silly eh?!

want more? stay tuned!

feverissshhh!

0 comments
it was thursday afternoon. my body was warmer than usual. mom took my temp and was surprised that it was at 100.6F. yes, i had fever. my first time at that. i didn't feel normal that day but i still thrived to be a happy one. i still wanted to play but i just wanted to be held. i was too clingy, to put it into mom's words. i also felt tired that i wanted to just sleep.

my temp did not get any better even with all the cool washcloth wipes that mom provided. mom then called the nurse triage from st. als. they instructed mom not to give me tylenol if my temp is less than 102 and to bring me in the next day. but then my temp kept on increasing and even jumped to 102.9! 1.5hrs after they gave me tylenol my fever went down to 101.

this afternoon, we went to see the pediatrician. i was still feverish around morning at 100.4. even before we checked in though, i was already fever-free. nonetheless, dr. tubach still saw us. after the routine check-up, she informed my parents that i didn't have any ear infection (mom's initial suspect) nor throat problems. thanks God. her initial diagnosis was that i might have gotten a viral infection (not sure what strain) that's been common around these days which could explain the change in color in my poop (and probably the clogged nose?).

i still have colds (i got this one on monday after easter). and it helps if my parents use the aspirator and/or the saline drops whenever my nose is stuffy. but i still hate it! like what mom said, i was like a pig being slaughtered whenever they apply saline drops on or aspirate me. and since i am that strong (even dr. tubach affirmed that, when she was trying to check my throat and nose), at least two persons are needed just to get that sticky mucus out of my nose. heehee

well, teething or not, viral infection or not, "lagnat-laki" or what, i am just thankful that my parents are with me and are constantly showering me with lots of tlc. now, i am soooo back and looking forward to be in my kulit-mode again! ;)

first major "boo-boo"

0 comments
my fascination for papers and paper products led me to my first major "boo-boo". read all about it at my mom's blog.

if you're asking if i learned a serious lesson from this boo-boo of mine, i'll say ammmm... NO. heehee. i still love paper and i still mouth whatever it is that's in my hands. it will come with age and maturity, hehe. for now, my parents just need to consider home baby proofing at great lenghts, that is. ;)

"ma-meh"

0 comments
i made mom a very happy momma tonight! that's because i was finally able to say "ma-meh" and "mei-mei".

yes, that's the whole "mommy" word for you. when i cry, i used to say "ah-meh" a lot. but tonight, they were surprised once more that in the middle of a crying spill, i called mom "ma-meh". i always want my mommy to hold me when i'm upset that's why i call for her. i just love how she can comfort me even by just carrying me or singing and humming to me. all the more when she lulls me to sleep while she cuddles me at her bosom.

oh how i love my "ma-meh"!

ps. but of course, i love you much as well, dad ;)

i can stand on my own!

0 comments
i had another surprise for my folks... i pulled myself up to a standing position!

it happened last night when they left me playing for a while in my crib. i have a musical toy hanging in my crib and i love playing with its buttons while i'm seated. my mom was brushing her teeth that time while dad was tidying up in their our room. both of them, for some reason, looked towards me at the same time, and were astonished at how i managed to use the toy to help me get up and stand. and then i did it again today in my playard. i used the side rails to help me up, and up i went! wee!

i think it's about time to lower the beds dad and mom!

the first tooth!

0 comments
you know what i got for my 7th month birthday? ... A TOOTH!!! yep, that's definitely a sharp tooth peeking through my lower gum!

my first tooth is marked with number "1"

this surprised my parents since i wasn't that fussy the past few days, even today. i was just immensely drooling and feeling my lower gum a lot through my tongue. well, it felt different that's why.

well, that's it! my very first tooth!...hello tooth fairy!.. oh, but not now ok?!

ps. i'll post pictures once the tooth can be very clearly seen (that is if i can stay still while it's photo is being taken).

happy 7 months to me!

0 comments
today, we celebrated my 7th month birthday! this day wouldn't pass without our simple feast of course. dad prepared some broiled bbq ribs and smoked salmon with shrimp carbonara. he was also able to make a picture-worthy puto this time around (let's just not talk about the flavor, it's still being perfected).

hismile!
ooh another onei want onehappy birthday
more 7th month birthday pics here

drumroll for the 7th month updates....*tada!*

from the 7 month milestones from babycenter, i'm going to skip the Mastered skills (most kids can do) category since i've really mastered those from my last update.

as for the Emerging Skills (half of kids can do), i've mentioned about the first few milestones from my last update. the only thing new on the list for me is that of starting to experience stranger anxiety. my eyes would really roam the room to look for dad and or mom whenever someone would take me away from anyone of them. and more often than not, i would cry.

for the Advanced Skills (a few kids can do), i'm a 3 out of 4! the only thing i cannot do from the list yet is that of waving goodbye. hey, do you know how to do this already? dad or mom will one day teach me how to do this too.

i definitely stand while holding onto something now or leaning on something. i have been banging objects together and on the table. and i also had begun to understand object permanence. iiit-baaa or peek-a-boo is one of the all-time favorite game that i play with my parents. here's one video showing my iiit-baaa game with mom.

i have some more updates, as usual (and thus prepare yourself once more since we're just halfway through).

now that i am 7 months old, i now weigh 17.2lbs and measure 26.75 inches. i am also becoming more and more malikot. so my parents decided to get the family room almost ready for that. see my nook pictures on previous post? this nook is kinda helping me out to become more and more mobile... alright, malikot! and yes, i started crawling. or at least attempted to crawl. but i have discovered a better way to move anyway and reach for the things that aren't within my arm's reach, while sitting down by rocking myself back and forth so who needs to crawl?! heehee.

oh, and since we're on the topic of kalikutan, my parents are already having a more difficult and challenging time while carrying me around because i can squirm and wiggle away in all directions, specially when i get excited. similarly, nappy changing is still difficult (and they thought it would get better with experience). dad's just becoming frustrated with this, specially when it's a poopy diaper that needs changing. haha

now that i am learning a lot of new things, i have found a lot of different ways to get my parents attention. one example: whenever they're leaving me at my pack-and-play if they're doing some chores or preparing my food, i have discovered that if i lunge forward and end up on my tummy and cry or complain, they will pick me up. so i do that all the time now, i don't even wait til they're away. haha. another example, i squeal! as in a girl's ear-deafening shriek! at times, i would kalabit whoever's beside me, specially when i am needing help. that's why mom call's me donya. hahaha. these tactics are proven and tested to be working 100%. more often than not though, i really don't need to use them since they're both all eyes on me anyway.

and oh yes, i am a-learnin'! i've just learned new tricks (as what my mom calls them). that of clapping my hands and giving my parents a kiss. of course, i have my own special and very unique ways on how i do them. i had a separate post about this as well. they're teaching me some more so stay tuned for more tricks from me ok?

ah and now we go to food, my favorite topic of all! i'm one chunky eater ya know! i love chewin, and munchin' and tastin' different kinds of food. between my 6th and 7th month, i've already tried the following:

veggies: sweet potatoes, squash, peas, green beans, spring veggies mixed in 1 jar of my stage2 gerber food, harvest veggies mixed in 1 jar;
fruits: apple, banana, avocadoes, grapes, plum, apricot, peach, pear. i love it better though when they mush a little portion of that big banana for me or a tiny bit of a peeled grape;
meat: just chicken (included in a gerber jar with sweet potatoes in it). i'll resume with meat once i turn 8months old;
grains and cereals: rice, oatmeal, wheat, macaroni (is this part of this food group? well, it was just one of the ingredients on that stage 2 gerber food, together with cheese :D).

i've also tried some finger foods to help me learn how to pick little things and chew well. but like i've said, i'm a donya. i want to be fed. haha. but yes, i do chew. i chew as if i have teeth. here's a video showing that. i actually love mouthing paper and paper products as well (kids, don't try this at home, hahaha). when we're reading a book, or learning letters through the flashcards, i'd rather get them from dad or mom and chew on them. i'm just fascinated with it. so when they're reading mags or books or simply sorting and opening the mails, i couldn't help but grab whatever it is that they're holding.

anyway, i have not had any allergic reactions with any of these, so my parents are really happy. they're hoping and praying that i won't have any bad reactions to any food since they just loooove feeding me. they couldn't actually wait until they give me table food (because i really show them how much i would like to try what they are eating, with the drooling sometimes as if takam na takam). making me drink water and juice is a different story though. just read about it on my previous post.

do you think this is long enough?! alright, i'll stop here. i'll just leave you with my month 6 to 7 pics. enjoy!
