4 months and counting...

this day marks my 4th month outside mommy's tummy. i know it may not be enough to say that i am enjoying it,but i do, i certainly do. this month had also been the busiest for me because of the holidays and with my parents making sure that i'd have the best Christmas and yeah, this year being my first (refer to my post below about my 1st Christmas).

as always, this day wouldn't pass without a celebration. so eventhough my parents had been stuffing themselves with too much food these holidays, we they still feasted on palabok (home made with love by dad) and some carrot cake cupcakes.

now that i am 4 months old, i've grown to become a little heavier than a 14pounder and a 2ft high (or short?) baby. i am definitely making my parents (and the viewers of my videos) go gaga over my new "baby tricks" and cuteness. haha.

for one, i just learned to make fun at that lil girl on the mirror reflecting every move i make. she never fails to make me squeal with delight! she seem to be conversing with me as well so i talk (and shriek) back at her almost non-stop. here's a video (this video doesn't showcase what i usually do though since for some reason i get distracted when there's a cam nearby).

also, it looks as if my "hilda"-like cries don't work anymore. so whenever i want to be held or talked to or played with, i try to get my way through my arte shrieks and cries now (here's one video of my arte shrieks). on the contrary though, they find it cute. weird huh? well, there's always my wailing if all else fails. hence i've been branded "ksp". haha

in addition, i am becoming more observant of my surroundings. more than before. now, i get curious. as what mom and dad calls it, i am always "umuusi" or "chumichismis".

and because of my pagka-usisera, heaps of people fascinate me. at church, i like watching a lot of kids move and chat. this makes my parents (and others in the cry room) get to be more serene (coz i wasn't crying) at least for some moment at mass. i like it best when it's communion time. aside from getting blessings from the minister, i also get to watch a lot of people trying to prepare themselves to receive God. some smile and wave at me. and i do smile back most of the time.

this has also made me love parties. parteeeh! uh-huh, i am not a party pooper. what with a lot of holiday parties that lined up, it definitely made one set of happy parents, mine. yep, i can stay up late. most of the time though, i sleep without any whining nor complaints in anyone's arms until the party's done.

i also am now a better travel companion. i can stay buckled in my carseat for longer period now without any crying spills. and yes, i do sleep in my carseat. so travelling isn't a nightmare anymore for my folks. however, if i get bored i still make a scene, with real tears and the saddest cries with coughing and throwing up, that you'll panic. like what dad described, "humihikbi pa". hence, they still aren't taking any risk driving longer than 30mins. my dad is scared to have me in tow anyway, what with this terrible snow.

there's also this habit that i developed for the past month. i tend to put everything that i can grasp into my mouth. i dunno, everything seem to be appealling. that's why my parents make sure that my toys are clean and safe enough to "taste".

dad thinks that i am probably going to be teething early since i always play with and sorta chew my tongue. i also tend to drool lately that they wanted me to wear bib all the time so as not to soak my shirts with laway. well, they don't know for sure. this is just a "well-wait-and-find-out" sort of development on my part.

they were also thinking that i'm probably trying to crawl. coz whenever they put me on tummy time, i always put my bottoms up, and kick my legs (i probably look like a caterpillar trying to move forward). this isn't on video yet coz the lolos and lolas would negatively react again. uh-huh, i just love them taking my side all the time. heehee.

i just can't wait to be mobile! i really can't. so nappy changing's been hard for my parents lately. what with all the kicks and side turns that i do, they really had to get me still to put that diaper properly fastened.

recently, i am also having some fondness in food. yeah, table food. i just get fascinated while i watch my mom or dad eat. i really look with "pananakam", as how my mom calls it, at their food. but when they would try to present a spoon to me, i never opened my mouth. but there's this one time when they placed a piece of grape near my mouth just to check. and oh boy i eagerly opened my mouth. i want some please! but nah, dad didn't put it in. my dad is pretty excited on giving me solids already. well, now that i can already hold my bottle (putting it in my mouth properly is a different story.. i like playing with it though), solid food is probably the next baby step. we'll see what dr. womack would say about me munching on solids during our checkup on january.

and oh yeah, i do tell stories now. mom thinks i'm baby-talking with sentences already since i'm really one talkative baby. my mom finds it cute when i talk myself to sleep sometimes. one minute i was talking to my mom (sort of telling her bedtime stories), then the next my eyes are already closed.

lastly, we might be needing that bouncer a little earlier. i could now kind of bounce up and down since i tend to straighten my legs as if i am always wanting to stand up. well, i really want to be more mobile. crawl or walk or whatever way! when i'm sitted up i tend to lean forward coz i really want to stand-up. my parents already know the cues that i give them as to when we he or she should start walking since i still have the short attention span typical of babies. yeah, i wanna make "usi" here, there and everywhere!

that's all folks! i'll now leave you with some family snaps taken this day... and oh by the way, here's a link to some random pics during my month 3-4.

the 1st Christmas!

here's spreading some christmas cheers by sharing the picture-laden 1st white Christmas, or the 1st ever Christmas celebration i had...

Christmas won't pass without the baranggay boise celebrating the christmas '08 party, hence, celebrating the...

1st Christmas party

this time, to make everything easier, tita beth with the help of tita leng opted to do the party at golden corral. that way no one wouldn't be needing to prepare the food and the venue. but to make it fun for the kids, they still had games and tons of prizes. i was never able to participate in any since i am too little. hopefully in a couple of years. for about a fourth of the party, i was napping on my mom's arms and never cared about the noise and the hulabaloos happening around me. i was as meek as a lamb. haha. thankfully though i still got to play with my big ates...

i still got to sit on santa's lap (santa tito william)...

1st Noche buena...

my parents were really glad that they got to host noche buena this year since it's my 1st.

on that day before christmas, i woke up unusually earlier. yeah, talk about excitement. but since i knew that my parents need all 4 hands to do everything fast, i slept all morning. they cleaned the house, cooked (chicken sotanghon soup, beef stroganoff, ham, calamari, egg pies... and good thing dad made the ube halaya the night before), and everything else that a host needs to do. two exhausted bodies after, we're soon preparing and running for the christmas eve mass.

the church was unusually full during the eve mass. yeah, even the cry room. everyone dressed to their sunday's best to attend Jesus' "birthday party" at church. and i wasn't an exception. mostly everyone who saw me commented at how cute i looked. ahem. i tried to behave nicely during the mass, but boredom got through me so i was shrieking in tears. sorry Jesus. sorry dad. sorry mom. sorry everyone in the cry room who wasn't able to concentrate at fr. Dennis' homily.

when we got home, i ate then napped at my parent's bedroom while guests where coming in, one family after another. pretty soon, my titos titas and kuyas and ates are all in our home and already eating. that's when i woke up so i still get to see how they stuffed themselves with the noche buena feast...

then of course, Christmas comes with gifts, hence my...

1st Christmas presents

... which i, with the help of mom and dad, opened on Christmas day.
the day of Christmas was a slow one for dasims. well, 1st coz my parents were just plain exhausted from the preps and the cleaning after that they only got to sleep not til around 5am. at least they were able to talk with both families from pinas. 2ndly, they really didn't plan to go out that day. and lastly, they want to make "open gip" a tradition for Christmas day. and oh my, i got lots of presents from my bgy boise family. they all piled up under the tree as if we haven't distributed the gifts under it prior Christmas day.

our tree on the left is with the christmas gifts that we gave; the one in the middle is with the gifts i have received, a-plenty!!!

i loved them all! thank you all sooo much!

new weird "tricks"?

today, i surprised my parents with two things:

1. I laughed. Not smiled. Not giggled and shrieked. Laughed a big girl's laugh! It just happened while my dad was making funny faces at me. They wanted me to do it again and be captured on cam, but nah, i didn't. I couldn't even remember how i did that. At least it gave them a glimpse of the happy big girl me.

2. I baby-talked in my sleep. While i was cradled sleeping by mom, she thought i was conversing. But when she looked down, i was sleeping. She even double checked and called my dad to watch. Then i spoke once more coupled with a smile. And once again, i made them laugh. Haha. No mom, i wasn't making that up. I was really asleep.

I have a lot more lined up. So just be ready and please be quick with that cam ok?!

the 3 month-update

here are some more pictures during my 3rd month birthday

today as i turn 3 months, i am already around 12.8 lbs and probably almost 24 inches long. everyone who saw my studio portraits got surprised at how big and chunky i look (and bigger than my age. my cousins said i looked like i was 6months old on those pics). and yes, those are my real huge legs. no legwarmers whatsoever underneath. and no, you won't see my neck on those (even my parents don't see my neck often unless they force me to).

I have changed to size 2 diapers since my legs are already complaining with size 1. my huge thighs are getting squished with it. i also am not wearing a lot of my smaller clothes anymore and mom kept a bag full of them for my future siblings or for new babies on the block. and some of them i have not even worn or were just worn once. now, i am wearing some 6-9month-sized clothes too (some brands are really smaller compared to others).

As for the major milestones, here's what we got from baby center's milestone chart for a 3 month-old baby:

Mastered Skills (most kids can do):

Recognizes your face and scent -- CHECK! Seeing my dad and mom really sends smiles and giggles my way! And i definitely know them and can pick them from amongst the crowd

Holds head steady -- CHECK! I definitely do. And I've been doing this since I am 2-months old. Like what I've said before, my pedia thinks that I have much much better head control than other babies my age. And she noticed that when i was about 3weeks of age.

• Visually tracks moving objects -- CHECK! .. specially the colorful ones. My parents actually noticed that I've been doing this since I am around 2-months old. I definitely watch where my mom or dad goes when they leave me at my my playpen for a few minutes (yep, can't last for a long time there. I wanna be cuddled and carried all the time, haha. fine, call me a demanding baby!).

Emerging Skills (half of kids can do):

• Squeals, gurgles, coos -- CHECK! well i am one talkative baby! I have videos of joel daldal here.

• Blows bubbles --CHECK! i just looove doing this and playing with my laway. If it weren't for the bib that mom puts on me lately even if i am not eating, i will be one really wet baby!

• Recognizes your voice -- CHECK! My parents' voice, specially when they talk and sing to me, is but wonderful melody to my ears.

• Does mini-pushup -- CHECK! Have you seen my videos here?! What other proof do you need?! Thanks to tummy time, i learned to do this. Yeah right?! *rolls eyes*

Advanced Skills (a few kids can do):

Rolls over, from tummy to back -- CHECK! And i wasn't even 3 months when i started doing this. Again, thanks to tummy time? Am i hearing myself here?!

• Turns toward loud sounds -- CHECK! Whenever my mom will bring me in front of our keyboard and hit some notes, i really look towards where the sound is coming from. Dad is tricking me though with that tickle-me-cookie monster inside the box,coz i couldn't see who's laughing and i just keep on looking.

• Can bring hands together, bats at toys -- CHECK! and CHECK! Here's another proof that i can bring my hands together. I really can't get enough of my hands. They're sooo num-yummy! Mmm, mmm good! And i don't just bat on my toys or anything, i try to grab them! My parents do a good job in helping me develop that grabbing skills. They make it look easy, heh!

Well, these are all i can find from babycenter in terms of milestones. Alrighty then! Signing off til my next update!

tummy time!

i hate tummy time! but my pedia recommends that i do that at least a couple of times a day for about two minutes each. she said that it would strengthen my neck muscles and would make me learn how to rollover quickly. so mom and dad had been religiously getting me into tummy time each day.

when i am at tummy time, i don't have a choice but to tilt my head backward. my parents saw how i was improving on that area. from having my face flat down, i can now fully hold my head up high. dad started noticing this last thursday. and then on friday night, while they were encouraging me, i was so pissed that i unintentionally rolled over to my back. all i heard were shrieks of happiness and a lot of 'good jobs' from mom and dad. they are just so proud that i can do this at less than 3 months old. then they noted the date, november 21, my first time to rollover. too bad they didn't catch it on cam. and everytime i do it, they either don't have the cam with them or i just wouldn't want to do it again. mom won't stop til she captures it anyway, i'm sure! ;)

holding my head up high at less than 3 months oldtummy time on my surfboard
see how i have transformed from this to this and this.

so there! another major milestone for moi! :)

PS. i can't get enough of my hands! i just loooove sucking them! here's a proof. how about you? how does your hand taste like? :)
